Imphal: Villagers in Shingta took the law into their own hands early Tuesday. They intercepted three DI trucks packed with illicit alcohol at 12:30 am. The haul came from Sekmai, headed toward the Senapati district via the Nongdam road.

Members of the Shingta Village Shanao Long and the Village Authority stopped the vehicles. They wasted no time. The crew pulled the cargo off the trucks and set the lot on fire.

This is a firm message to smugglers. The villagers demanded an immediate halt to these shipments. They issued a warning to everyone involved: "refrain from transporting liquor through the area and urged an end to such activities."
