Imphal: Village leaders are pushing back against claims linking them to the disappearance of 71-year-old Pu Hemjang Haokip. The man went missing from the nearby Khunkho Kaki Village. The authority expressed deep concern for the family. They want the truth.
Tensions are rising. Officials stated that the two villages have kept the peace for decades. They insist neither the village nor its residents played any part in the case. The leadership acknowledged reports of individuals pointing fingers at their community. They warned that such talk only breeds distrust.
The village sits right by an Army cantonment. Life there changed on August 14. Leaders imposed strict movement restrictions on residents after trouble hit several Naga villages. These rules served as a precautionary measure to keep everyone safe.
The authority condemned the abduction or disappearance of civilians. They called such acts unacceptable. "Any act of abduction or disappearance of civilians was deeply distressing and should never be encouraged or tolerated," the statement read. Leaders are now asking the public to hold off on guesswork. They want everyone to focus on finding Haokip so he can return home to his family.
