Guwahati: Vice President CP Radhakrishnan lands at Borjhar Airport at 10 a.m. on September 6. He starts a two-day trip across Assam. He will attend events at Jyoti Bishnu Kala Mandir and Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra. Later, he joins a dinner at Raj Bhavan hosted by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya. He stays the night at the State Guest House in Koinadhara.
On September 7, Radhakrishnan heads to Gauhati University. He will lay the foundation for projects worth Rs 110 crore backed by the state government. He will also release three books during his visit. These include a work by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called Integrated Development (The Role of the North Eastern Council), a special birth centenary tribute to Dr Bhupen Hazarika, and the expanded Chandrakanta dictionary.
Guwahati Police and the Kamrup Metropolitan district administration have increased security across the city. They locked down routes and venues along his path. Gauhati University Registrar Professor Utpal Sarma confirmed the site is ready. He said, "Preparations were underway for the Vice President's visit and the scheduled programmes at the university."
