Kohima: The Road to Liberty exhibition arrived in Kohima on Tuesday. It tracks the leaders and events that forged the United States. The show officially opened at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts. Abu Metha, advisor to the Nagaland Chief Minister, led the launch. He highlighted a special, strategic bond between the Naga people and America. This history includes deep ties in education, religion, and development.
Metha thanked the White House Founders Museum for the display. He said the exhibit gives locals a chance to understand the American journey. It serves as a study in freedom and democracy. He noted, "we also look up to America as the leader of a free world, the home for free speech, the protector of freedom, the nation that stands up for democracy and much more."
The Task Force for Music and Arts, known as TaFMA, is hosting the event. It is a joint initiative with the U.S. Consulate General in Kolkata. TaFMA head Theja Meru chaired the opening ceremony. The exhibition is open to the public from July 22 to July 25. Doors remain open from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm daily.
Metha urged local youth to act as ambassadors for Nagaland. He challenged artists and musicians to share their stories through song, paint, and poetry. He remains committed to building these international connections. The event featured performances by Zavino Nakhro and Lucy Arila. Adu Keditsu closed the ceremony with a vote of thanks.
