Aizawl: Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region and Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, has commenced a three-day visit to Sikkim to conduct a comprehensive review of key infrastructure and tourism projects. After arriving at Bagdogra Airport and spending an evening in Namchi, the Minister began his official itinerary with a tour of the state's iconic Temi Tea Garden and an inspection of the Bhaleydunga Skywalk Project in Yangang.
Throughout his visit, Mr. Scindia is scheduled to engage with local cultural and sporting initiatives, including a visit to the Orchidium in Gangtok and attendance at the Sikkim Premier League held at Bhaichung Stadium. These stops highlight the government's focus on promoting regional tourism and cultural preservation.
A critical component of the tour involves a visit to the Indo-China border at Nathula Pass on May 16. Mr. Scindia will evaluate the progress of facilities intended for the upcoming Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, specifically inspecting the acclimatization centers at Hangu Lake and 17th Mile. Furthermore, he will review the development of a large-scale parking facility capable of holding 1,000 vehicles, which aims to mitigate traffic congestion in the border region. The visit will conclude with the Minister attending Sikkim's 51st State Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour.
