Union Minister Durgadas Uikey Evaluates Rural Livelihood Projects in Tripura

Agartala: Union Minister of State for Tribal Welfare Durgadas Uikey visited Unakoti district on May 29, 2026, to assess livelihood projects operating under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission. The visit focused on evaluating how government programs support rural entrepreneurship and economic stability at the community level.

During his tour, Uikey inspected the Agarbatti Manufacturing Unit at the South Unakoti Village Committee and the District Level Aggregation Centre in Kumarghat. He engaged with members of local women Self-Help Groups to understand their production methods, marketing strategies, and income growth. The Minister praised the participants for their commitment to strengthening the rural economy through their small businesses.

Unakoti District Magistrate and Collector Megha Jain accompanied the Minister and presented him with a gift hamper featuring goods created by local entrepreneurs. Officials stated that the visit highlights the government commitment to fostering sustainable employment and community empowerment across Tripura. The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of these groups and encouraged them to pursue further self-reliance.
