Shillong: Union Health Minister JP Nadda chaired a meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Shillong on Friday. The session brought together Minister of State Anupriya Patel and committee members to evaluate national child health programmes and discuss strategies for strengthening healthcare policies.
As part of the visit, the delegation inspected the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences. During a tour of the pediatric ward and Outpatient Department, the members assessed the institute's infrastructure and spoke directly with patients. The committee expressed satisfaction with the level of care and medical services available at the facility.
NEIGRIHMS Director Prof. Nalin Mehta welcomed the review as a vital move to bolster medical services for children. He stated that the Health Ministry’s initiatives would improve pediatric care nationwide and reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to supporting these efforts as a premier tertiary healthcare provider for the Northeast.
