Imphal: Ukhrul district joined a statewide effort on Wednesday to launch the Jan Kalyan Shivir Initiative 2026. This three-day registration camp aims to expand local access to government services by facilitating on-the-spot enrollment for eligible beneficiaries. The drive will continue through June 19 across all four subdivisions of the district.

Officials have established multiple access points for residents, including sites at the DRDA Hall and Mini Secretariat Complex in Ukhrul headquarters. Additional registration camps are operating at the Ngahui Radio Complex, the Jessami Block Office, and the Lingchong Maiphai Camp Office. According to the DIO Ukhrul, the initiative seeks to ensure maximum coverage and saturation of both Central and State government schemes.

A wide range of departments and agencies are participating in the event to assist local residents. Counters have been set up by the Department of Social Welfare, the State Bank of India, the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited, and various agricultural and administrative offices. Deputy Commissioner Uppuluri Chaitanya visited the Mini Secretariat Complex during the opening day to inspect the registration counters.

The DIO Ukhrul stated, "the camp is intended to improve outreach and ensure that eligible residents are enrolled under ongoing welfare and development programmes." This campaign is part of a broader push across Manipur to streamline the registration process and improve public access to essential government support.
