Two Teenagers Killed by Train in Assam

Guwahati: Two teenagers died Sunday night after a train struck them in Assam’s Barpeta district. The victims, 16-year-old Jahangir Alam and 17-year-old Mostafa Khan, lived in the Azad Nagar area. Both boys were students, with Alam attending B.H. College and Khan studying at Dronacharya Academy.

Friends and neighbors said the pair trained together constantly. They wanted to join the Indian Army. They hit the pavement every morning and evening for physical drills. On June 23, they left home for their usual practice but never made it back. Their families started searching as the night dragged on.

Locals found their bodies on the tracks at Barpeta Road around 11 PM. Several trains passed the area during the night. Investigators have not yet identified which train hit the boys. Police from the Barpeta Road station and railway officers arrived to secure the scene. Authorities are now running a probe to find out what happened. An official statement noted that "an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident."
