Two Railway Workers Killed by Goods Train in Assam

Guwahati: A goods train killed two railway workers and injured two others in Assam on Monday. The accident occurred on the Naranarayan Bridge near Jogighopa in the Bongaigaon district. The crew was working on the tracks when the speeding train approached.

Rejaul Haque and Shahar Ali died at the scene. Two other men, Zakir Hussain and Iyar Alam, survived the impact with grievous injuries. Emergency responders rushed the pair to Goalpara Civil Hospital for medical care.

The victims were casual laborers hired for railway construction. They were walking along the tracks when two trains passed the bridge at the same time. A goods train heading toward Guwahati struck the men.

Railway authorities have kept quiet for now. An investigation into the incident is underway to figure out exactly how the men ended up in the path of the train. Officials stated that "an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident."
