Guwahati: Two insurgents from the NSCN-K Nikki Sumi faction surrendered to the Assam Rifles and Tirap Police on June 29. They gave up in the Kheti area of Arunachal Pradesh. The surrender followed a targeted intelligence operation in the district.

Forces grabbed weapons and ammo from the pair during the hand-over. Officials kept the identities of the men quiet. They also refused to list the specific hardware recovered from the insurgents. The move signals a potential shift for regional stability.

Authorities are still working through the paperwork. "Further investigation and necessary legal formalities are underway," officials added. Security teams remain on the ground to finalize the case.
