Itanagar: A massive landslide buried five construction workers in the Shivaji Nagar area near Tezu. Heavy rain caused the hillside to collapse in Arunachal Pradesh's Lohit district. Rescuers pulled two bodies from the mud so far. They are still searching for the three other missing people.

Local police and State Disaster Response Force crews rushed to the scene. The district administration launched a full-scale relief operation to help families and clear the wreckage. Officials confirmed the victims were laborers working on a local project. The situation remains dire.

The India Meteorological Department warned of this disaster. They issued an Orange Alert for the region, forecasting heavy rain and thunderstorms. "Heavy rainfall also triggered fresh flash floods in parts of Lohit district on Wednesday, damaging homes and infrastructure," according to reports from the area. Emergency teams continue to scour the site for survivors.
