Agartala: A deadly crash on Akhaura Road killed two people and injured several others on August 31. The accident hit central Agartala during a busy stretch of the day. A minor daughter of a senior Tripura Police official was reportedly behind the wheel. The teenager is a student at a private school in the city.

The car was government property. Investigators say the girl was using the official vehicle for driving lessons when she lost control. An e-rickshaw driver is among the wounded. West Agartala Police Station arrived to restore order as tensions spiked at the scene. They now hold the area under their jurisdiction.

Officers are digging into how a state vehicle ended up in the hands of a minor on a major road. Officer-in-Charge Sanjit Sen confirmed the circumstances of the wreck. "The minor was reportedly learning to drive when the accident took place," Sen said. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the two people who died. Police continue to gather evidence to pin down exactly what happened and who allowed the car to be used.
