Guwahati: Dhing Police and Ahomgaon Police arrested two suspected drug traffickers during a joint operation in the Lalipathar area of Assam's Nagaon district late on June 17. The raid, which was supported by the Village Defence Party, followed specific intelligence reports regarding illicit activity in the region.

Authorities identified the arrested men as Baharul Islam, a resident of Devaguri, and Rajibul Islam, who hails from Duwamari. During the search, officers recovered a soap case containing suspected narcotics and seized a motorcycle with the registration number AS 02 R 2666.

Police allege the pair has been involved in trafficking operations across the Nagaon and Morigaon districts for some time. Officials are now questioning the suspects to uncover the source of the contraband and identify other potential members of the network. Police officials stated that "interrogation of the two accused is currently underway to ascertain further details regarding the alleged network, source of the contraband, and possible links to other individuals involved in drug-related activities."

This arrest is part of a broader crackdown by law enforcement agencies aimed at disrupting the supply of illegal substances across the state.
