Kohima: The Department of Health and Family Welfare held an Adolescent Health and Wellness Day at GMS Ngangpong in the Tuensang Sadar block on September 25. The event focused on mental health. Experts led the program to teach students how to identify signs of distress and manage daily pressure.
Dr. Wapangla, a medical officer for the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, took the stage. She instructed attendees on coping mechanisms for stress and urged them to speak up. She told the students, "Mental health is an integral part of overall health," and advised them to reach out to teachers, parents, or counselors when they struggle.
Vistl, an adolescent counselor at the District Hospital Tuensang, broke down the mechanics of anxiety and emotional difficulties. The session relied on interactive talks to get students talking about their feelings. The medical team included Dr. Wapang, Dr. Thonti, Suthem, and Yimsotola.
