Kohima: Lok Sabha MP S. Supongmeren Jamir chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee meeting in Tseminyu on June 29. Officials met at the DC Conference Hall to review progress. The session included ex-MLA Medokul Sophie and DPDB chairman Ar. Jwenga Seb.
Supongmeren pushed for open dialogue regarding local projects. He told the assembly, "The purpose was not to target individuals but to freely discuss departmental development activities, share successes and challenges, and strengthen implementation of schemes and projects in the district." Department heads from Social Welfare, Animal Husbandry, and Agriculture detailed their work during the session.
The group transitioned into a District Planning and Development Board meeting. Members reviewed a proposal for a Rengma Cultural Complex at Khwenphen. The Semkash Women Society submitted the request. The board backed the plan and sent it to the state government for final approval.
Officials also looked at a grant request for Baptist Higher Secondary School. The board cited the school’s strong academic record in its decision. They officially recommended the institution for government support based on the SDEO report. DC Japheth Woch closed the proceedings by thanking all participants.
