Tripura Wins Three National Panchayat Awards for Grassroots Excellence

Agartala: Tripura has received three prestigious National Panchayat Awards from the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj, highlighting the state's success in rural governance and sustainable development. The accolades recognize significant improvements in local administration, public service delivery, and grassroots welfare.

The Sepahijala District Panchayat earned the top honor as the best district in the country under the Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar category. This award, which acknowledges excellence across sustainable development goals, includes a financial incentive of five crore rupees.

In the Unakoti district, the Kanchanbari Gram Panchayat was named the best healthy panchayat in the nation. This recognition stems from the village's effective healthcare programs and interventions, earning the local body a one crore rupee cash award.

The Baikunthapur Gram Panchayat in West Tripura secured third place in the women-friendly category for its commitment to gender-sensitive governance and female empowerment. The local council received 50 lakh rupees for its efforts in fostering inclusive rural development. These national successes reflect Tripura's ongoing focus on strengthening local leadership and improving the quality of life for its rural population.
