Agartala: Tripura Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman met with his West Bengal counterpart, Jagannath Chattopadhyay, on Wednesday in Kolkata. Barman demanded the state bring back reserved engineering seats for Tripura students. These spots previously existed at schools like the Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology in Serampore and Berhampore.
Barman claims the prior administration in West Bengal cut these slots. He wants them back now. He believes this move will help his students secure quality technical training. The goal is simple: more seats for his people.
Chattopadhyay promised to review the request quickly. The West Bengal minister told Barman, "the matter would be examined and necessary steps would be taken at the earliest to restore the reserved seats." Officials expect this to open doors for many aspiring engineers if the deal holds.
