Agartala: Tripura is preparing to host Special Gram Sabhas across the state on June 5 to observe World Environment Day. Panchayat Minister Kishor Barman led a virtual meeting from the State Secretariat on June 2, bringing together elected representatives and administrative officials from Zilla Parishads, Panchayat Samitis, and Gram Panchayats to finalize the agenda.

During the session, Minister Barman outlined key environmental priorities for local bodies. The planned initiatives include extensive tree plantation campaigns, plastic waste management, water conservation projects, and large-scale cleanliness drives. Officials were instructed to ensure these activities are executed effectively through coordinated efforts at the grassroots level.

The minister emphasized that community engagement is vital to the success of these programs. He encouraged residents to take collective responsibility for their surroundings to help create cleaner and greener villages. By leveraging the Gram Sabhas as a public platform, the state aims to raise awareness about sustainable rural development and ensure the long-term conservation of natural resources.
