Agartala: In a significant operation against narcotics trafficking, Tripura Police successfully seized approximately 50,000 Yaba tablets with an estimated street value of Rs 2.5 crore. The operation took place in the Kadamtala area of North Tripura’s Dharmanagar subdivision, following actionable intelligence received by local authorities.
Under the supervision of North Tripura Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, law enforcement officials raided a residence in Ward No. 6 of Bagan Gram Panchayat. During the thorough search of the property, the illicit shipment was discovered concealed within a cowshed. Two individuals, identified as Gautam Das and Jasimuddin, were taken into custody at the scene.
A formal case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Kadamtala Police Station. Superintendent Rai confirmed that both suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to determine the origin of the contraband and identify broader connections to interstate or international trafficking syndicates. Investigators are prioritizing the mapping of supply routes, storage networks, and financial transactions associated with this illicit operation to dismantle the organized network involved.
