Agartala: Tripura Legislative Assembly Chief Whip and Teliamura MLA Kalyani Saha Roy has moved to address severe waterlogging issues caused by ongoing national highway construction. During a meeting in Agartala on Monday, she highlighted how highway work between Icharbil and Korailong Choumuhani blocked local drainage systems, forcing rainwater into nearby homes.

Saha Roy led a joint inspection of the affected areas alongside officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, the Public Works Department, and local municipal leadership. The team evaluated the impact on residents living between Khowai and Teliamura as monsoon rains began to take a toll on the region.

The delegation agreed on immediate solutions, including the creation of temporary earthen drains to manage water flow. Saha Roy confirmed that work to clear the drainage paths is already underway. She pledged to maintain close coordination between government departments to ensure long-term relief for the local population and to prevent further seasonal flooding.
