Agartala: Sudhangshu Das, the Minister of the Animal Resource Development Department in Tripura, has called on local authorities to intensify enforcement efforts to prevent cow slaughter. The Minister issued his request on Wednesday, May 27, through a social media post directed at state officials.

Das emphasized that his plea is rooted in the deep religious significance of the cow within Hindu culture. He noted that many followers of the faith regard the animal as Gau-Mata, or mother, and he invited the public to cooperate in protecting these traditions. His call for action arrives as northeastern states continue to navigate ongoing debates surrounding animal welfare, religious sentiment, and the legal status of cattle slaughter.
