Agartala: A Tripura resident returned to India on Monday after spending more than 16 months incarcerated in Bangladesh. Pradip Chandra Pal, who lived in the Amtali police station area, was repatriated through the Paharmura Border Security Force gate at approximately 11:30 a.m. following a coordinated effort between authorities from both nations.
Pal had been detained over a year ago for entering Bangladesh without valid travel documents. He subsequently served his full sentence at the Habiganj District Jail. Indian and Bangladeshi officials managed the handover process, which remained smooth and orderly according to those present.
Khowai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Krishna Dhan Sarkar represented Indian authorities at the site alongside personnel from the 104th BSF Battalion and the Sidhai police station. Officials from the Balla BGB 55 Camp and Chunarughat police station handled the transfer for Bangladesh.
Following the completion of legal formalities, Pal reunited with his family. Relatives thanked the border administrations of both countries for the humanitarian effort that allowed for his safe return after the long separation.
