Agartala: A resident of the Sekerkote area in Tripura has been accused of terrorizing a 16-year-old girl with explicit threats of violence. Joydev Debnath, who lives near Gokulnagar Dindayal Choumuhani, allegedly sent the minor an image of a sophisticated pistol via his mobile phone during the late night hours.
Along with the weapon image, Debnath reportedly sent messages threatening to rape and murder the girl. The victim, who belongs to a tenant family, was targeted repeatedly, as the accused allegedly continued sending the threats the following morning despite the family initially raising the issue with authorities.
The girl's father filed a formal written complaint at the Amtali Police Station on Thursday afternoon after the harassment persisted. The victim's family has since publicly appealed to the police administration to ensure strict legal action is taken against the accused. Officials have confirmed the receipt of the complaint and pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
