Agartala: Tripura is gearing up for a massive cash injection into its tea industry. Officials expect to secure 726 crore in new investments during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026. The two-day event starts July 9 at the Badharghat International Fair Ground. It is a big deal.

Tripura Tea Development Corporation Chairman Samir Kumar Ghosh confirmed the state will sign four key agreements with private firms. He believes this sets a new record for the region. "We are expecting to ink four MoUs valued at 726 crore with potential investors during the mega business event. This will be the largest-ever investment commitment, which will drive modernisation, value addition, tea tourism and employment generation," Ghosh said.

NDR Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. leads the pack with a 500 crore pledge. They plan to build modern tea estates and export hubs. Monoworld Recycling and the Itibachak Barta Foundation each committed 100 crore to modernize factories and support small growers. Infidirect Tech Solutions will invest 26 crore to run TTDC estates and set up packaging plants.

The plan targets more than just raw leaves. The projects cover organic cultivation, a tea museum, and fancy products like white and rose tea. Officials hope this move puts Tripura on the map as a hub for both industry and eco-tourism.
