Agartala: Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated a field-based awareness program at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Agartala this Wednesday. The event aimed to promote grape cultivation by teaching farmers modern farming techniques, improved fruit varieties, and effective marketing strategies.

The minister attended alongside Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy and Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Amalendu Das. A key feature of the session was the launch of a project funded by NABARD to evaluate and popularize various grape types across the state. Officials hope this effort will encourage crop diversification and provide new revenue streams for local farmers.

Before the presentations, the ministers inspected existing grape orchards at the center to evaluate fruit quality and speak with growers about their operational challenges. Agricultural experts at the event provided technical guidance on pest management and post-harvest handling to help increase farm profitability. Organizers plan to host similar sessions in the future to expand the adoption of modern fruit cultivation across the region.
