Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha started the new paddy procurement drive on Friday. The event took place at the Kakraban Agriculture Sub-Division in Gomati district. Officials set the payout at Rs 2,369 per quintal. This price covers the Rabi marketing season for 2025-26.
Saha said the state wants to boost rural income. He pointed to federal budget hikes as proof of this goal. The central agriculture budget jumped from Rs 27,006 crore in 2013 to Rs 1.4 lakh crore in 2026. The government continues to push programs like PM-KISAN and the Kisan Credit Card to support local growers.
The Chief Minister emphasized that his administration focuses on fair pay for producers. He stated, "The state government's commitment is to ensure that farmers receive fair returns for their produce while promoting agricultural growth and rural prosperity."
The program runs under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Saha noted that the initiative aims to lift the economic status of the state's food providers. It remains a core part of the broader effort to modernize agriculture in the region.
