Agartala: Tripura is moving fast on a new medical college in Jolaibari. Minister Sukla Charan Noatia led a high-level review at the Agartala State Secretariat on July 7 to force the project ahead. The state wants this done.

The institution falls under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram, handled by the Minority Welfare Department. Officials poured over blueprints and land allocation records to keep the timeline tight. The project aims to fix gaps in regional healthcare and medical training capacity.

Top brass attended the meeting, including Health Secretary Kiran Gitte and the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department. Noatia backed the push to modernize state facilities. He said, "The proposed medical college would strengthen the state's healthcare system while creating new opportunities for medical education."

Government workers mapped out infrastructure needs to ensure the build starts without further delay. This college marks a major shift for the South Tripura district.
