Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha presented a broad development agenda for Tripura and the Northeast during the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council in Shillong. Attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, the session focused on enhancing connectivity and industrial growth in the region.

Highlighting the state’s recent economic activity, Saha noted that Tripura has secured over Rs30,000 crore in investments and recognized more than 200 startups this year. To maintain this momentum, he requested the Centre raise the funding ceiling for Externally Aided Projects from Rs4,146 crore to Rs10,000 crore, allowing the state to proceed with stalled pipeline projects.

He also pressed for the revival of Kailashahar Airport and the acceleration of the Badarpur to Sabroom railway double-line project. Addressing industrial needs, the Chief Minister requested a 40 per cent rebate on natural gas prices and proposed the creation of an AIIMS facility in Agartala.

Regarding regional growth, Saha served as the chairman of the High-Level Task Force on Investment Promotion. He stated, "Highlighting Tripura’s rapid economic progress, CM Saha said the state has attracted investments exceeding Rs30,000 crore over the past year due to its investor-friendly policies." He concluded by requesting an increase in annual allocations under the Pride of Hills scheme to support Tripura’s long-term infrastructure and development goals.
