Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has formally requested that the central government remove existing borrowing ceilings on externally aided projects for Northeastern states. He argued that lifting these fiscal constraints is essential to fast-track infrastructure and socioeconomic development across the region.

The Chief Minister emphasized that greater financial flexibility will allow Tripura and its neighbors to maximize investment in critical sectors. According to the state government, removing these caps would better enable the implementation of large-scale initiatives designed to modernize the local economy. The proposal aims to bring Northeastern states into alignment with the broader national growth strategy by ensuring they have the necessary capital to meet their development targets.
