Agartala: The Higher Education Department of Tripura has officially canceled the 26-day summer vacation previously scheduled for all general degree, professional, and technical colleges. This decision affects the period from May 25 to June 18, 2026, and mandates that all state institutions remain open to maintain academic and administrative operations.

Officials stated that keeping colleges open is necessary to handle urgent responsibilities, including the upcoming admissions process for the 2026-27 academic session and the completion of even semester examinations. The order, signed by Additional Secretary Animesh Debbarma, applies exclusively to the current academic year.

To compensate for the loss of vacation time, faculty and staff members will receive 26 days of earned leave, which will be credited proportionally based on their attendance during this period. The department has distributed the official notification to all college principals as well as Tripura University and Maharaja Bir Bikram University for immediate implementation.
