Agartala: TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma is calling for urgent government action to address illegal migration into Tripura. He expects the issue to take center stage during Union Home Minister Amit Shah's upcoming two-day visit to the state.
As part of his itinerary, Amit Shah plans to inspect security measures along the India-Bangladesh border and consult with Border Security Force officials. He is also scheduled to meet with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to discuss administrative and security concerns.
Debbarma recently presented a detailed report to the Union Home Minister concerning ongoing infiltration attempts by Bangladeshi nationals. He emphasized that the influx has altered the demographic landscape of the region over time. Regarding the persistent nature of these border challenges, Debbarma noted, "attempts by Bangladeshi nationals to infiltrate the state continue to remain a matter of concern."
The legislator commended the state government for its current stance on the issue but urged both state and central authorities to implement more effective measures. He believes that strengthening border security is essential to protect the state's interests and restore demographic stability.
