Agartala: Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma has publicly criticized the central and state governments for failing to implement the Tiprasa Accord. Signed on March 2, 2024, the tripartite agreement remains stagnant more than two years later, leading the Ramchandraghat legislator to denounce the official lack of progress as a sign of apathy.
Debbarma stated that this inaction is the primary reason why party leader Pradyot Kishore Debbarma chose not to align with the BJP for the upcoming 2026 Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council elections. The MLA specifically pointed to a recent visit to Delhi by Chief Minister Manik Saha, claiming that the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi ignored the core concerns of the indigenous population.
The delayed implementation has caused significant distrust among the Tiprasa community. Debbarma encouraged supporters to prepare for a democratic movement, emphasizing that unity is the only way to secure their constitutional rights. Observers expect these comments to increase political friction between the Tipra Motha and the BJP as the election period nears.
