Guwahati: Police in Tinsukia hauled in two more suspects for helping the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent. Bitu Bora and Kalpa Bora face accusations of providing logistical muscle for a planned militant attack. Both men live in Panitola.
The arrests follow the capture of two ULFA(I) cadres earlier this week. Those operatives planned to unleash grenade attacks and indiscriminate fire on civilians in Tinsukia town. Investigators squeezed intel out of the duo to track down the network supporting the mission.
Bitu Bora allegedly supplied a Swift car to move the operatives. Police say Kalpa Bora handled other logistics. During questioning, the pair admitted they acted on orders from a high-ranking rebel. Police noted the vehicle was arranged on the instructions of senior ULFA(I) leader Aiseng Asom.
Authorities have tightened security across the district. Cops are running checks at strategic points and watching vulnerable zones closely. The investigation is far from over. Police are chasing fresh leads to identify anyone else tied to the conspiracy.
