Guwahati: Tinsukia district officials launched an investigation into Kailashpur Indane Gramin Vitrak after finding the gas agency shuttered during a surprise inspection. The site sits near the Dirak Gate in Kailashpur. It was closed tight when authorities arrived.

The move followed a string of complaints on social media. Customers claimed the distributor failed to provide basic service. The district administration sent the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department to verify the reports on the ground.

Deputy Director Birinchi Kumar Dutta oversaw the check. The agency office was locked when inspectors pulled up on Saturday. Officials now want to know why the doors were shut during business hours.

The district administration stated the inspection was intended to "verify public grievances through field-level assessment and ensure accountability in the delivery of essential public services." The inquiry remains ongoing. Results are pending.
