Three Die in Fatal Gorge Accident in Mizoram

Aizawl: Three people died after their vehicle skidded off a road and plunged into a deep gorge in Mizoram's Lunglei district. The victims were identified as 25-year-old K Lalhlimpuia, 40-year-old Jerry Lalnunfela, and 24-year-old PC Lalrintluangi, all residents of Hauruang village.

The incident occurred on May 23 while the trio was traveling back to their village from Lunglei town. A missing person report filed on May 24 prompted local police to initiate a search operation. Authorities tracked the mobile phone location of one of the passengers to the Hauruang area, leading them to the wreckage of the car.

Local volunteers and nearby residents assisted police in the rescue and recovery efforts. The bodies were retrieved around 7 pm on May 24. Following post-mortem examinations, the victims were buried at the Hauruang cemetery on May 25. Police are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
