Guwahati: A 35-year-old man from Assam died after an alleged assault by local residents in the Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. The victim, identified as Prasenjit Das, had arrived in the region only a day earlier with five other men seeking employment.
Police reports indicate the incident occurred in Ramarajakandigai village near Vengal. Das approached a home occupied by two women to ask for water, but a verbal dispute reportedly broke out between the man, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, and the residents. The women notified their relatives, who then confronted Das alongside other locals.
The physical altercation resulted in fatal injuries for Das. Officers from the Vengal police station recovered the body and transported it to the Tiruvallur Government Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Authorities have detained three individuals for questioning as they work to clarify the circumstances surrounding the confrontation.
