Three Dead After High-Speed Crash in Mizoram

Aizawl: Three people died early Thursday after their car slammed into a parked truck in Kolasib, Mizoram. The accident happened around 2 a.m. on National Highway-306. The road connects the state to Silchar in Assam.

A Wagon R with Assam plates hit the truck. The impact was violent. It shoved the heavy truck more than 50 metres from where it sat. Police said, "The bodies of the three remaining occupants, who were trapped inside the mangled vehicle, were recovered at around 4:30 a.m."

Volunteers from the Young Mizo Association joined rescue crews at the scene. They pulled two survivors from the wreckage. Medics rushed the injured to a hospital for treatment. The car was headed toward Aizawl when the driver hit the stationary vehicle.
