Imphal: Security forces busted a drug smuggling ring in Manipur. They hauled in 5 kg of opium and 50,000 rupees in cash. The bust went down in the Jiribam district.

Police intercepted a silver-grey Hyundai i20 at Leingangpokpi on June 29. The vehicle was packed with the stash. Officers arrested the two men inside, identified as 46-year-old Dhanraj Prajapat and 44-year-old Buddha Ram, both from Rajasthan.

The operation relied on specific intelligence regarding narcotics moving along National Highway 37. A joint team of Jiribam police, central security forces, and the CRPF carried out the stop. Follow-up interrogations quickly paid off. Detectives tracked down a third suspect during a raid at Thanga Khunjem Leikai in the Bishnupur district.

Authorities have locked up all three suspects. Officials stated, "Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized opium." The car and the drugs are now in police custody as the investigation expands to dismantle the inter-state network.
