Thenyizu Village Installs New Council for 2026-2031 Term

Kohima: Thenyizu village in the Phek district officially installed its new village council for the 2026-2031 term during a ceremony held at the Panchayat Hall on May 21. Chisazo Dawhuo, chairman of the Planning and Vision Cell, led the program, while Theduseyi Poru of St. Andrew Church provided the invocation. Rev. Veshoseyi Rhakho offered words of encouragement and led a prayer for the incoming leadership team.

The nomination committee secretary, Theyehuyi Dawhuo, and PVC secretary Vesekho Thisa declared the new leadership. Head GB Vepozoyi Theyo administered the oath of office, followed by a prayer for the village and its new council from the village elder, Zasehu Theyo.

Zhothiyi Dawhuo will serve as the council chairman. Other primary roles include VDB secretary Zacusa Thisa, council secretary Vevo Resu, and common treasurer Vezovo Swuro. The council also appointed various sub-committee chairmen to oversee essential community services, including power, education, health, water sanitation, and ration distribution.

The installation ceremony drew a wide audience, featuring clan chairmen, church leaders, and representatives from the Thenyimi Youth Social Welfare Organisation, the Thenyizumi Students’ Union, and the Thenyizumi Women Society.
