Thadou Students Association Urges NIA Probe into Church Leader Ambush

Imphal: The Thadou Students Association (TSA) is calling for a National Investigation Agency probe into the May 13 ambush on the Kotlen-Kotzim Inter-Village Road. The attack claimed the lives of Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sitlhou and two other church leaders, while leaving several church workers injured.

In a formal statement, the association welcomed the appointment of Mukesh Singh as the new Director General of Police for Manipur. The TSA expressed hope that this change in leadership will lead to better accountability, professionalism, and impartial law enforcement across the state. Previously, the group had advocated for the removal of the former police chief and systemic reforms to improve the security situation for the Thadou community.

Beyond the demand for an independent investigation, the organization is pushing for several immediate security measures. These include the protection of survivors and witnesses, the launch of intelligence-led operations to capture those responsible for the violence, and a commitment to transparent governance. The TSA expects the new police leadership to prioritize constitutional rule and improve coordination between agencies to prevent future attacks.
