Imphal: Five Tangkhul apex groups officially canceled their non-cooperation directive against the Wung Tangkhul Region on July 10. This move ends a three-month freeze triggered by the March 28 killing of Hongbeili. The standoff began on March 31, 2026, as the organizations demanded accountability.
The Tangkhul Naga Long joined four other groups to sign the joint statement. These include the Tangkhul Naga Awunga Long, Tangkhul Shanao Long, Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong, and Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long. They spent months in heated deliberation before shifting gears.
The coalition decided that community stability outweighs their previous grievances. They want to move past the fighting. The joint statement declared: "Preserving unity, peace and the long-term welfare of the Tangkhul community must take precedence."
Leaders now point toward forgiveness and faith to guide their path forward. They trust divine intervention for justice while pushing for renewed trust. Presidents from all five organizations signed off on the order, effective immediately. This ends the blockade and opens the door for fresh dialogue across the region.
