Shillong: Sturdflex is moving into the Northeast market. The brand, owned by Kolkata-based Shyam Steel Industries Ltd, announced its expansion on Wednesday in Guwahati. They spent two years studying regional weather patterns before launching their product line. They want to solve issues like water ingress, dampness, heat, and wall cracks.
Gourav Beriwal serves as the director of Shyam Steel Industries. He spoke about the company's regional strategy. "We offer a wide range of specialised products tailored to address different challenges, including water ingress and dampness, heat-related concerns, wall cracks and other major construction issues," Beriwal said.
The company enters the region with over 450 channel partners and distributors. They launched in Bengal four years ago. Now, they aim to become the market leader in the Northeast within two years. Their plan relies on local dealer networks and technical support for builders.
The region poses specific risks to construction. Heavy monsoon rains and high humidity ruin standard materials. The high UV index in hilly areas also breaks down coatings rapidly. Sturdflex provides on-site technical assistance to handle these environmental threats. They are also training local masons on proper application methods to boost construction quality.
