Kohima: Nagaland state departments cleared their desks to honor long-serving staff. The Planning and Transformation Department and the Nagaland Public Works Department held separate events on June 30 to celebrate officers hanging up their hats after decades on the job.

At Hotel Japfu, the Planning and Transformation Department sent off Additional Development Commissioner Vilhouhunuo Sachu and Joint Development Commissioner N. Likao Kikon. Sachu started his run in 1995. Kikon joined in 1994. Secretary P. Nungsangwapang Jamir praised the pair as assets to the state, citing their strict discipline and professionalism.

Across town, the NPWD conference hall hosted Engineer in Chief K. Imnajungba and Chief Engineer T. Sao Sangtam. Colleagues called them dynamic leaders. During the event, the outgoing engineers encouraged their younger peers to put in the work. "They shared experiences from their careers, emphasising the importance of prayer and perseverance in overcoming challenges," the report noted.

Staff members wrapped up the farewells with tributes and songs. Both departments wished the retirees well as they transition into life after state service.
