Kohima: St. Paul’s Parish in Wokha held its annual Feast Day on June 28. The event marked the official opening of a new Marian Grotto at St. Paul’s Church. Hundreds of faithful gathered to celebrate the occasion. The parish includes congregations from Wokha, Chukitong, and Humtso.

Rev. Fr. Anto Tharakan SDB led the day’s ceremonies. The event started at the local basketball court before a Rosary procession moved to the Grotto site for dedication. Wobenthung J. Patton offered words of thanks to the crowd before everyone shifted to the church for the Holy Mass.

Fr. Anto preached on the Gospel of Matthew. He told the congregation that Christ must remain the priority above all earthly distractions. He urged followers to accept the cross and commit to daily acts of charity. To inspire the attendees, he cited St. Paul, noting, “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

Nineteen children received their First Holy Communion during the service. Catechists T. Ezanthung Lotha, Zumomo Joseph Yanthan, and N. Chophathung Kikon handled the readings. Church council members and the new communicants provided special performances to close out the day.
