Kohima: The Spring Market Affair kicked off on May 21, 2026, at the State Botanical Garden in Kohima. The three-day event is a partnership between Petals and Pearls and the Silviculture Division of the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Range Forest Officer Florence T. Sangtam opened the event by emphasizing the roles of community participation and sustainability. Guest of honour Lhinghoikim Touthang, the Conservator of Forests, highlighted the Botanical Garden as a vital resource for environmental education and biodiversity conservation. She also noted that pursuing creative hobbies like gardening can improve personal well-being while supporting small business growth.
Organizer Kenei Mor stated that the market aims to unite local artisans, entrepreneurs, and workshop facilitators. Visitors can browse a variety of offerings, including handcrafted goods, food stalls, and floral displays. The event also hosts a series of creative workshops covering skills such as soap making, bonsai cultivation, decoupage, floral arrangement, and gift wrapping.
