Kohima: The Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) opened a new lodging house, known as SAYO Ki, in Nagaland's Dzükou Valley on September 26. Former president Seyievilie Peter Zashümo led the inauguration ceremony. The project serves as a base for SAYO members and regional leaders.
Zashümo urged local leaders to look past their own terms. He stressed that development must not ruin the natural beauty of the region. "There are many things needed to be done, but we should reason on whether it will put the ecosystem of the valley to threat," Zashümo said. He suggested future projects like footpaths and solar lighting should only proceed after deep consultation.
SAYO President Zasitsolie Bei-o confirmed the build faced tight money and time. He tasked regional leaders with keeping the facility in good shape. The organization also finished work on two water storage tanks, adding 30,000 and 20,000 liters of capacity to the valley.
Finance Secretary Teisovi Thorie led the event. Associate Pastor Alodi Pusa of Viswema Baptist Church provided the invocation. Neilau Thapru performed a song. Members of the Southern Angami Public Organisation, along with student, sports, and women's groups, attended the ceremony. Zhokedu Zhotso closed the day with a vote of thanks.

Zashümo pushed leaders to stop winging it with regional growth. He pointed to existing government schemes and funds, telling officials to sharpen their requests and make smarter picks for the region. He framed the valley as a God given patch of ground, putting the weight of its protection on human custodians.
The organization clarified that Neilaü Thaprü serves as the SAYO women coordinator and Zhokedu Zhotso holds the position of health and environment secretary. The facility was officially opened on Saturday.
