Guwahati: A woman with a disability delivered a baby while traveling on the Silchar-Agartala train this week. The unexpected birth caused significant distress in the passenger carriage as the mother struggled through labor, leading fellow travelers to call for urgent help.

Subir Dhar, a local social worker, received word of the emergency and quickly dispatched an associate to the scene before arriving himself. Working alongside railway staff and police officers, Dhar coordinated the safe removal of both the mother and the newborn from the train at Silchar Railway Station.

Emergency responders transferred the pair to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for urgent medical care. Following the successful rescue, local residents praised Dhar for his rapid intervention. Observers noted that the incident served as a powerful reminder of community values, stating the event proved that "humanity and community spirit continue to thrive in times of need."
