Smart Meter Installation Begins in Longleng Under National Power Scheme

Kohima: Authorities in Longleng have launched the installation of smart meters across the district headquarters. This rollout is part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, a broader initiative by the Government of India to modernize and digitalize the national power sector.

Moichung Shembu Phom, the Sub Divisional Officer for the Electrical Department in Longleng, confirmed that all electricity supply must now operate through functional meters. The project aims to boost billing accuracy and transparency while improving energy management and service efficiency for residents.

Officials emphasize that only authorized agencies and personnel are conducting the installations. The department has asked consumers to cooperate with workers as they complete the process in the town.

The department also urged the public to ignore rumors or misleading claims about the technology, noting that such misinformation creates unnecessary confusion. Residents with questions or those seeking verified information should contact the Electrical Sub Division office or reach out to authorized ANVIL representatives.
