Sivasagar Police Seize Drugs Hidden in Soap Container

Guwahati: Sivasagar police cuffed a woman and seized 41.04 grams of suspected narcotics during a raid in the Jengonikatia neighborhood. Officers targeted a rented house on Deka Bor Barua Road to carry out the operation.

The suspect, Jesmin Begum of Koliabor, had the contraband stashed inside a large soap container. Police value the haul at several lakh rupees. Her husband, Sadikul Islam, fled before officers arrived. He is now on the run.

Investigators also found a stockpile of brass utensils at the home of another Koliabor resident, Faizol Islam. Officials are working to see if the goods link to the drug trade. Additional Superintendent of Police Maidul Islam led the raid alongside Officer-in-Charge Babul Medhi and Town Inspector Debashish Sharma. Police said, "Further investigation is underway to trace the absconding accused and ascertain the wider network behind the alleged drug trafficking."
